CONNOISSEUR ELEPHANT HUNT
Come hunt your dream elephant with us in the period 1 November - 15 December 2025.
This is the ideal time, as the really big breeding bulls exit from their hiding places to enter the breeding season. At the earlier part of this period, water scarcity is also forcing the big bulls to come out of hiding places.
In this period, there are big trophy bulls coming into our hunting area, exiting from the adjacent Hwange National Park. By this time, all the natural drinking spots have dried up within the park directly adjacent to us, forcing the elephants to drink in our hunting areas.
We quote this offer for elephant in the 40-80 plus pounds category, of which there will be plenty opportunity to hunt.
But for the hunter who is willing to pay for bigger trophy quality, elephant bulls over 60 pounds, and even over 80 pounds are on the table.
If you are serious about hunting a big trophy bull, don't miss this opportunity!
COMBINE WITH LEOPARD!!!
If you would like to combine the elephant hunt (day hunt) with a leopard hunt (night hunt), you add USD 8.500 to the prices above (depending if leopard quota is still available at the time of booking)

Tips to staff
THE SCIENTIFIC-BASED APPROACH
As a point of departure, we assessed the gene potential of our area at 135 pounds per heaviest tusk. About 10 years ago, the tusks of a 135 pounder was picked inside Hwange National Park. Nobody in the park, has ever seen this big bull, up to the day of picking up the tusks. This is typical, as such bulls will find a hideout that is always completely secluded with no humans coming there.
Our first priority is to improve the gene pool, and to be conservative in our offering. We therefor base our total approach in our offering at 80% of the true gene pool potential of 135 pounds. We base our approach in our offering, at 110 pounds gene pool potential bulls.
The main reason why we work at 80% of the true gene pool, is to ensure that the elephants with the best genes keep breeding. We focus on bulls that are below average in terms of tusk weight for their age. But still we can hunt 80 pounders, 90 pounders and even 100 pounders. But such big elephants we will only hunt at age 55 years plus, as post breeding bulls.
One has to be very careful when hunting elephant bulls in the 45-60 years category. In the total population of elephants, adult bulls (15-60 years) represent around 26% of the total population. Bulls of 40-60 years make up 6% of the population and the very old elephant bulls over 55 years, past breeding contribute less than 0,7%. These very old bulls, are in the process of a slow agonizing death. We do find the signs of dung balls that are lose in structure with a lot of bark, and also worn down tracks. These bulls often have very good ivory, and are not breeding any more!!!
We work exclusively in the 45-60 years age group of elephant bulls. Elephants continue to gain body weight, and by 45 years of age already, they cannot walk long distances between feeding grounds, and therefor settle in a small (often few hundred hectares) home range, which is normally hilly, thick vegetation with some permanent water source. Such a bull is joined by one or two askaris, to help keep him safe.
Very important, is that there are no human settlements close-by, and such home ranges are often way off the beaten track. For the full duration of the non-breeding (hunting) season, this bull will not show himself outside his secluded home range.
FINDING and MONITORING
The big dominant elephant bulls in the 45-60 years group will start to return from their breeding herds , to their home ranges at the from middle to end of the rainy season.
Once these big breeding bulls have returned home to their secluded hiding places, our scouting program will start to find their home ranges, then to identify trophy quality, using drones, and also assessing it on foot.
Once we are sure that the elephant is over 70 pounds, we will send you, the booked hunter as well as the hunting agent , the photographic material and also monitor it on a consistent basis. Such an elephant is a sure elephant which will then be hunted much quicker with a much higher chance of success. This elephant lives a tranquil life in his secluded hiding place, normally with 1-2 askaris.
Over the period of months until the hunter’s arrival, we will endeavour to find a number of elephants in the over 70 pounds category, to optimize success with the biggest possible trophy quality.
The scientific approach is the only way to go to ensure the hunter hunts an over 70 pounder elephant. The potential is very realistic to hunt elephant over 80 pounds, and even bigger!
For the early birds, the elephant quota in Matetsi Unit 6 will produce the biggest trophy potentially.
Therefor, don't waste time.
